    • High School graduate or GED
  • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • Works in well- lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in department. Exposure of blood borne pathogens is of low risk.
  • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • This position requires close interaction with ancillary departments in order to facilitate the smooth operation of the Medical Surgical StepDown Intermediate Critical Care Unit.
  • Job Description
    • The Unit Assistant assists the Department Director by performing clerical activities as needed to coordinate and maintain records and documents for both the hospital and the department in a non-nursing capacity. The Unit Assistant serves as a liaison between the staff and the Department Director and completes other duties assigned by the Department Director as needed.
    • The Unit Assistant will assist the Department Assistant Director and/or Clinical instructor by performing clerical activities as needed to coordinate and maintain records and documents for both the hospital and the department in a non-nursing capacity.
    • The Unit Assistant will assist in daily tasks that will be required routinely such as checking and delivering mail, copying paperwork, filling, monitoring staff attendance, assisting with staff meetings, committee involvement in a non-nursing capacity, paying bills and invoices as guided by the Department Director, ordering of supplies, and general functions of the Medical Surgical StepDown Intermediate Critical Care Unit..
    • The Unit Assistant will assist the Department Director in the monitoring and completion of Payroll.
    • The Unit Assistant with be willing and flexible and share in the collaboration of the Departments mission, vision, and goals and committed to UMC’s Standards of Excellence: Attitude, Communication, Responsiveness, Compassion, Teamwork, Ownership, Safety, and Respect

    • None
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Must be emotionally and physically fit. Work is sometimes sedentary, but may frequently require standing, walking, light lifting and transporting of supplies. Work is of medium demand. Talking and listening to staff while conversing required. Adequate eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills required. Near visual acuity required to work with charts and records.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Must have appropriate clerical skills needed to meet job demands.
