UMC Physicians of Lubbock, Texas is seeking a Physician Assistant or Family Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join their outstanding healthcare team.  Experienced providers and new graduates are welcome to apply.

Job Description: The Physician Assistant/Family Nurse Practitioner/Pediatric Nurse Practitioner utilizes advanced knowledge and clinical expertise in the field of Family Practice or Urgent Care.  This position provides guidance to the professional nursing staff and care to patients and their family.  The PA/FNP/PNP is responsible for conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; ordering and providing direct patient care services to include prescribing medications and other therapies as needed.  This position offers base salary plus excellent bonus potential.

Physical Capabilities:

  • Medium denand. Standing, walking most of the time on duty.
  • Lifting and pushing patients, carts, and wheelchairs.
  • Adquate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Good Tactile sensation necessary for checking patients.
  • Talking and hearing is essential in instruction and supervising nursing personnel and in receiving doctor's orders and patients condition reports.
  • Near visual acuity for accurate recording on patients's charts.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Desires to be part of a health care team dedicated to providing patients optimal care.
  • Must be compassionate, conscientious and meticulous.
  • Directs patient care including but not limited to: Examine, diagnose, treat medical conditions of/for patients.  Prescribe medications and medical testing.  Reviews and interprets tests results; takes and records histories and physical examinations; communicates with physicians regarding patient care and follow-up.
  • Participates with the physician in a review of the patient health records.
  • Assures that adequate patient records are maintained, completed and accurately documented, readily accessible and systemically organized.
  • Performs services in accordance with company policies.
  • Participates in appropriate Quality Improvement (QI) for the clinic.
  • Adjusts work hours/schedule to meet the needs and demands of the clinic.
  • Aware of all Emergency Disaster Plans and how to respond if a disaster occurs.
  • Works effectively with others, demostrates leadership and teaching ability and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Communicates effective orally and written with patients, staff, and other entities.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of current healthcare practices.
  • Demonstrates good time management skills and critical thinking skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of clinical and nursing standards and practices in accordance with them.
  • Special interest in scientific and technical activities for understanding and responding to nursing problems and concepts.
  • Knowledge and clinical competence of the special skills required to give quality care to patients.
  • Age specific knowledge when needed for appropriate patient's care.







  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current, unrestricted NP/PA/PNP in good standing with the State of Texas Medical Board or Texas Board of Nursing or the ablility to obtain or transfer your license to Texas.
