  • PART I - General Job / Performance Information
  • Education and Experience
    • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing, and current license from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners. Must have two years of Emergency Department experience and two years Intensive Care experience or three years in either area. Specialty certification is preferred. Within one year of employment must obtain TNCC and ACLS. Expected to gain instructor status for TNCC and ACLS.
  • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs in the department . Travels to professional meetings. Exposure to blood born pathogens is low to moderate.
  • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • This position requires close interaction with the medical staff and ancillary departments in order to facilitate a quality multi-disciplinary approach to care of the trauma and burn injured patient.
  • Job Description
    • Under the direction of the Trauma and Burn Program Director the Trauma / Burn Program Coordinator is responsible for focusing the activities of the health care team on the achievement of optimal patient outcomes and coordinating care of the trauma / burn injured patient in accordance with guidelines established by the American College of Surgeons, American Burn Association and Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • Current license from the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Work of medium demand; walking, sitting, and standing most of the time while on duty. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required. Hearing acuity and clear speech patterns are necessary, as frequent communication is involved. Visual acuity and writing skills are necessary for factual documentation and computer work.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, staff and patient populations. Must be well organized and maintain accurate records. Familiarity with hospital organization and function of the departments within the hospital structure is essential. Age specific knowledge is required when needed for appropriate patient care. Must be self directed and efficient in organizing an maintaining workload.
