PART I - General Job / Performance Information

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor degree in Cyber Security, MIS or equivalent field is highly desired. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Security is required. Minimum of 2 years managerial experience is preferred.
Environmental / Working Conditions
  • Works in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate needs of other departments.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
  • This position requires the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership, serve as an effective leader to a team of highly trained personnel and consultants; form, manage and lead advisory committees and interact effectively with law enforcement agencies, data mangers, auditors, consultants, vendors, and stakeholders.
Physical Capabilities
  • Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting and standing most of the time while on-duty. Occasional lifting of equipment is required. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills required for typing. Talking and hearing is essential in dealing with co-workers and customers.
Skills and Abilities
  • Displays Leadership and organizational abilities. Possesses project management skills. Must be able to communicate effectively via verbal or written methods. Possesses good presentation and training skills.
Job Description
  • The Director of Information Security & Information Security Officer (ISO) provides leadership and oversight in the strategic planning, execution, and assessment of all UMC Health System cyber security strategies, policies, procedures and guiding practices. The director establishes and maintains a comprehensive information security program to insure that all information assets are adequately protected against current/future internal/external threats. The position is responsible for identifying, directing, coordinating, evaluating, and reporting on information security risks in a manner that meets compliance and regulatory requirements while enabling UMC to develop an anticipatory response to minimize information security risk. The position acts as the key liaison and focal point for all information security communications and projects, and coordinates the necessary alignment of information security and CSIRT staff. The position is also responsible for budgeting, project prioritization, and providing guidance to senior leadership in all matters of cyber security.
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
  • C|CISO, CISSP, or GISO certification highly recommended
