Overview/Summary
The Lean and Six Sigma coordinator is responsible for assisting with a wide variety of hospital initiatives and projects.   The ideal candidate will be able to find meaningful patterns, trends, and relationships in processes by evaluating workflows, personnel interactions, and data.  The candidate will be able to manipulate large amounts of healthcare data and be able to transform the data into meaningful information.   Attention to detail, organization skills, and an analytical approach to problem solving is required. 
Reports to the Lean and Six Sigma Manager.  Data management with a basic knowledge of statistical analysis is required. 

Education and Experience
Healthcare experience preferred but not required.  Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field, engineering, mathematics, or information technology required.  Previous performance improvement, engineering, clinical informatics, or Lean and Six Sigma work preferred.

Environmental Working Conditions
Subject to inside environment conditions.  Protection from weather conditions, not necessarily from temperature changes.   Hours may vary to meet specific deadlines.  Work is of light demand.  Frequent computer work with more than basic computer skill competency.

Interaction with other Departments and Relationships
Hospital leadership, physicians, staff, patients, guests, and community partners.

Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
Lean and/or Six Sigma certification within 18 months.
Skills and Abilities
Leadership Able to work independently, self-regulate projects, set goals, and follow through with projects.  Well organized with the ability to prioritize, plan, and execute without close supervision.  Collaborates with staff at all levels in the organization.
Language Able to effectively communicate and present verbal or written information, including public presentation.
Reasoning Ability to address problems through performance improvement methodologies such as PDCA or DMAIC.  Analytical in approach to problems and uses data to reach solutions.  Must be able to learn unfamiliar concepts and adapt to change.
Information Management and Systems This job requires computer and system competency in the following areas: data retrieval, validation, manipulation, and analysis.   Data sources vary requiring integration.

Technical
Every hospital employee is expected to display an acceptable level of technical competence in carrying out assigned duties.  The specific job responsibilities for this position are listed below:

Job Specific
  1. Continually grow and adapt the Lean and Six Sigma performance improvement methodology to drive a wide variety of hospital initiatives across the organization.
  2. Assist with projects including but not limited to active project management, sustainment of change activities, ongoing data review, and status updates. 
  3. Continually seek innovative methods to manage and/or display data to drive performance improvement activities. 
  4. Create data collection plans and validate the measurement system for analytical analysis and transformation of data into information.  Includes statistical analysis of data.
  5. Demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills.
