Education and Experience  
  • BA/BS with a major in a related field and five years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with healthcare coding (CPT, ICD-9/10, DRG, HCPCS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to the provision and reimbursement of healthcare services,
  • Demonstrated knowledge of auditing billing, coding, and documentation practices in inpatient and outpatient settings

Job Description

  • The Sr. Compliance Analyst (SCA) will report directly to the UMC Chief Compliance Officer (CCO). The Primary Scope for this role is to partner with operational departments, units, and/or clinics to ensure compliance to with all aspects of federal, state and local policies and regulations governing the delivery and billing of health care services. The SCA will provide consultation and analytic support to assigned functional areas. Under general supervision, the SCA will be responsible for auditing and the ongoing monitoring of changes in laws and regulations to ensure compliance with State and Federal guidelines. This incumbent will be responsible to establish, mandate and implement standard policies, procedures and best practices across the health system to promote compliance with applicable laws with expectations for data accuracy and completeness. Also, responsible for helping develop and implement remedial education programs in response to detected examples of non-compliance.

Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of computer application packages, extensive interpersonal and communication skills, and an extremely effective capacity for time management dealing with constant and recurring deadlines. Prior experience with the interpretation of federal and state regulations, report writing and administration of issues involving complex compliance, legal and regulatory governance.
