  • PART I - General Job / Performance Information
  • Education and Experience
    • Must have a minimum of two years of experience in supporting/maintaining PC hardware and software. Must possess working knowledge of Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7, Mac OS, virtual devices, thin clients, basic networking, and hardware repair. The ability to support various components of the MS Office Suite is necessary.
  • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • Work within the Information Systems department and with all areas of the hospital. Position involves a considerable amount of walking to visit clients and extended periods of sitting, working on hardware.
  • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • Must be able to work well with a wide variety of clientèle, often in stressful situations. Though patient contact is very limited the incumbent must be able to work in the patient care environment while maintaining the dignity of those patients. 

  • Job Description
    • The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing hardware and software technical support to end users in a LAN/WAN/WiFi environment. This includes performing routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair on PC systems and peripherals. Responsibilities include installation of computer hardware, software and peripheral devices. Basic network administration may be required. Basic software and hardware troubleshooting skills are a must. The incumbent will have strong interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and a strong desire to provide first class service to the customer. The ability to work independently while functioning as integral member of a team is paramount.
  • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • HDI, A+, Network +, HP certifications, MCP or other Microsoft certifications are a plus.
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Ability to Lift PC’s and Peripherals
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Provide help desk/telephone support to end-users.
    • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and upgrade PC’s and peripherals.
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various operating systems: Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 7. Some experience with Mac OS is desrable.
    • Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair desktop applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Internet Explorer, and Citrix Metaframe.
    • Installation and troubleshooting of Windows based hospital software.
    • Computer equipment Roll Outs.
    • PC to PC data migration.
    • Configuration of network printers
    • Provide technical assistance for hardware and software purchases.
    • Assist with maintaining records and technical documentation for essential hardware and software equipment (including licensing).
    • Must be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision.
    • Maintain professional certifications as required.
